The short version

We collect what we need to run the app. We do not sell your data. We do not use your journal or your chart to advertise to you. You can download or delete everything from your account at any time.

Who is responsible for your data

What we collect

Your email address, to create your account and send your login link.
Your first name, birth date, birth time and birth place if you enter them, so the app can work out your chart.
Your journal entries, daily card pulls and saved red flags.
Birth details of other people if you save them for Chart Match. Only save details you are comfortable having. We use them only to show you your own matches.
A record that you agreed to the no refund notice, with the date and the wording you saw.
Payment information. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. We receive confirmation that you paid, the products you bought and your email.
Basic technical data needed to keep the app secure and working, such as error logs.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

To provide the app you bought and log you in. Legal basis: contract.
To work out your chart and give you readings. Legal basis: contract.
To take payment and keep records for tax and accounts. Legal basis: contract and legal obligation.
To keep a record of your consent to instant access. Legal basis: legal obligation and legitimate interests, to protect us if there is a dispute.
To keep the app secure and fix problems. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
To reply to your emails. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

Marketing

We keep your first name, email and marketing choice so we can email you what you bought and, only if you ticked the box, news about the app.

We will only send you marketing emails if you clearly opt in. Order and login emails are not marketing. You can opt out of marketing at any time.

Who we share it with

We use trusted services to run the app. They only handle your data to provide their service to us.

Stripe, to take payments.
Our hosting and database provider, to store your account and the data you save, and to run the app.
Our email provider, to send your login link.

We do not sell your data. We may share it if the law requires us to.

Where it is stored

Some of these services process data outside the UK. When they do, we rely on safeguards the law recognises, such as the UK approved international data transfer terms or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep it

Your account data and journal stay until you delete your account.
Payment and order records are kept for as long as tax law requires, normally six years.
Consent records are kept for as long as you could bring a claim, normally six years.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict or move your data, and to stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests. You can delete your account and all your saved data yourself from the Account page. For anything else email Thefirestartersociety@gmail.comEmail us and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would love the chance to put it right first.

Cookies and storage

We use only what is needed to keep you logged in and the app working, including saving your preferences on your device. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. If that changes, we will ask first.

Children

The app is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we will delete it.

Security

Your data is stored securely and each account can only see its own data. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong email password and do not share your login links.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If we make a big change, we will tell you by email.
